Marks 50 Years of Hosting Students
Monica Uhlenbrauck is passionate about being FVL's International Coordinator. With the pandemic disrupting travel this year, our number of international students has dropped from the 40's to 26. Still, she sees those numbers rebounding and is excited about growing this program to share the Gospel with students from across the world.
FVL's first internationals to attend as full-time students were Alieu Fofana and Baboucarr Nyang. Natives of Gambia, they attended from 1970-1974. Interviewed in the Appleton Post Crescent, they described how they first heard of the opportunity to attend school in the U.S. They arrived for the 1970-71 school year. That makes 2020-21 FVL's 50th anniversary of hosting international students.
Host Families Needed for 2021-22
Looking for a great way to share the Gospel and learn a different culture? FVL's International Program needs at least three host families for next year with applications already from a senior girl from Portugal, a junior boy from France, and a senior boy from Thailand. New applications are being processed, and more will be coming. Students pay their own expenses, and host families receive a stipend to offset costs. Email Monica Uhlenbrauck at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information on these or other new students.
