SPRING 2025
Trust
"Those who have been given a trust must prove faithful" (1 Corinthians 4:2).
Trust is a central component of our faith and is essential to the mission of Fox Valley Lutheran High School. Parents entrust us with their children’s education, expecting them to be equipped for success. To honor that trust, our faculty stays committed to academic excellence, ensuring students are prepared for college, careers, military service, or ministry.
As a Christian high school, we also carry the trust of providing spiritual care. Beyond academics, we immerse students in God’s Word—through daily chapel, Bible studies, and a Christ-centered curriculum, led by dedicated servants of the Gospel. Our mission is to guide students not just in knowledge, but also in both faith and service.
Financial stewardship is another trust we hold at FVL. Our school operates on tuition, congregational support, and generous donations. Every dollar is managed and then used to make an impact. Decisions, such as investing in long-term infrastructure or retiring debt early, are made with the responsibility of ensuring the sustainability of our school for future generations.
One key area of stewardship is our Let the Children Come mortgage payment. Each year, we raise over $475,000 to meet our annual October 31 obligation. This mortgage, structured in three bonds, funded the 2018 construction project. It added five needed classrooms, including two additional Fine Arts classrooms, and a state-of-the-art biomed lab. Since then, enrollment has risen from about 580 to 775, and space is once again a growing concern. After already paying off Bond “A” in the fall of 2023, this October, we have an opportunity to pay off Bond "B" early. By raising $850,000, this will result in saving tens of thousands in interest and providing greater flexibility for a potential future expansion project.
God continues to bless us with growing enrollment, a sign of the trust placed in us by families. As we move forward, we seek God’s wisdom to remain faithful stewards of the students and resources—all while carrying out the mission of training teens for lives of service, but more importantly for eternity!

2025 FVL OPEN HOUSE
Over 200 people, representing nearly 80 families, visited our annual Open House on March 10. Future high schoolers and their parents were able to tour the campus, attend presentations on high school life, and learn about FVL's sports and activities by meeting with representatives at one or more of the 30 booths representing our activities, athletics, and highlighted academics.
FACULTY & STAFF ANNIVERSARIES
The following faculty are celebrating ministry anniversaries this year (pictured below): Mrs. Kathy Stern (35); Mr. Matt Koepsell (30); Mr. Joel Kramer (30); Mr. John Giddings (20); Mrs. Renee Pastorek (20); Mr. Brian Kopp (10); Mr. Ryan Lemke (10); Mrs. Elizabeth Wagner (10); and Mrs. Sara Zuberbier (10). In addition, Mrs. Kathy Kolell and Mrs. Laurie Penterman have each served on the FVL staff for 10 years, and will both be retiring at the end of this school year.
SAVE MONEY FOR TUITION BY USING SCRIP
You can help FVL’s Tuition Assistance program and cut costs on your student’s tuition. Buy and use SCRIP gift cards for your usual purchases—groceries, restaurants, gas, retail stores, and more. Each SCRIP purchase builds your cash rebate (amount varies for each participating business). More than 350 families received over $86,000 in tuition credit for the 2024-25 school year by using SCRIP!
The last day to purchase SCRIP for credit in the 2024-25 school year is Saturday, May 31. Please check FVL's online calendar (fvlhs.org/calendar) for our summer hours and any special holiday hours.
CENTER STAGE AWARDS
This year, FVL's production of Tarzan received recognition from the Center Stage High School Musical Theater Program. The entire cast was honored with the Outstanding Ensemble award. THANK YOU, BARGAIN GARDEN!
A special thank you to the nearly 100 Bargain Garden volunteers, who not only give their time and talents to help support our ministry, but also lift FVL up in prayers. Also, many thanks to those who drop off donations and shop at the store.
The Bargain Garden continues to be a tremendous blessing to the ministry of FVL. In the 2024-25 school year alone, they have provided nearly $235,000 in financial support. Their contributions this year funded new Tech Lab furniture, tile floor replacements in the 2300 and 2500 wings, upgrades to the boys team lockers to accommodate growing enrollment, and a $50,000 matching gift for .our upcoming Giving Day to help pay down Bond "B." Thanks to their generosity, FVL can continue making essential improvements that strengthen our gospel-centered mission.
The store is at 2725 N. Meade St. in Appleton. Stop in and see all the great deals!
2025 FOXFEST DINNER AUCTION
FoxFest attendees enjoyed a night of socializing, food, and fundraising on April 11, at the Hilton Appleton Paper Valley. The "Fab Fifties"-themed night hosted live and silent auctions! Over 360 FVL supporters attended, with over 20 more joining the auction online. Thanks to the countless volunteers who helped make the night a success. Also, thanks for the multitude of donations from individuals and businesses throughout the Federation and the Fox Valley. Proceeds will benefit tuition assistance and the ministry of FVL.
Plan to attend the next FoxFest on Friday, April 17, 2026!
FINANCIAL FOCUS

Our Let the Children Come mortgage payment comes due on October 31 each year. With a goal of $850,000 to pay off Bond "B" this year, we are nearing the halfway point, and only about 25% of the needed donations have been given. We understand the aggressiveness of this plan, but we are anticipating the savings of nearly $35,000 in the next two years, while also having the ability to set ourselves up with a competitive loan moving forward as we need to amortize Note "C." Prayers are for a strong finish for the mortgage payment in the coming months. May the Lord continue to bless our efforts! Interested in providing a matching gift for our annual Giving Day? Contact our Mission Advancement Office.

Many students are only able to attend FVL because of Tuition Assistance. Your generosity helps these families. Every gift counts!

The FVL Foundation helps donors leave a lasting legacy. Our goal is to raise our $5,430,000 in assets to over $6,000,000. Current gifts certainly help with our goal of $50,000 annually, but those who have remembered FVL in their estate plans are helping leave a legacy for generations to come. Interested in learning about a way to give a gift, save on taxes, and create an income stream? Contact Director of Mission Advancement Rev. Tom Mielke (missionadvancement@fvlhs.org) to discuss how you can capitalize on your giving to FVL.
2025-2026
BUDGET APPROVAL
IN MAY
On February 24, FVL’s General Board was introduced to the 2025-26 budget. Key elements in the budget process include enrollment projections, staffing decisions, and congregational commitments for the upcoming year. Next year’s enrollment is projected at 800 students. Budget approval is planned for the May meeting, when we will have a more accurate picture of enrollment and other budget-impact figures. A tuition increase was approved, as well as moderate pay increases for all faculty and staff. We are very thankful that increased congregational giving to FVL's operating budget has helped. In this budget preview, the Federation congregations would support just over 11% of the cost of operating the high school.
